Behind the QR sticker
The Byte Bunny backend for self-service machine owners
The short answer
Byte Bunny Technology's backend sits behind every machine we fit. With our IoT device in the machine, it can accept DuitNow QR payment, and once a customer has paid, our servers start it. Owners get the Byte Bunny Portal: they watch sales, see a detailed transaction history and can start a machine remotely, from anywhere. The backend is custom-built for different businesses according to their needs.

What happens between the scan and the machine starting?
Byte Bunny Technology's backend sits between the customer's phone and the machine. Byte Bunny Technology provides it as software as a service to laundromat owners, including owners whose machines previously took tokens or cash. Four stations, from the scan to a running machine:
The customer
Scans and pays
The customer scans the DuitNow QR on the machine and pays the machine's price from their e-wallet or banking app.
In the machine
Our IoT device
We install it into the machine you already have, so the machine can accept DuitNow QR payment.
Our servers
Byte Bunny's servers
Once the customer has paid, our servers activate the machine.
At the machine
The machine starts
The cycle begins, and no coin or token went into the machine.

What does an owner get from the backend?
Byte Bunny Technology lists five things a self-service business owner gets. This is what the system is built to do; results depend on your shop.
Monitors cash sales and e-wallet sales
In the Byte Bunny Portal, owners watch their sales and a detailed history of every transaction.
Machine can be remotely activated
Our servers start a machine after a customer pays by QR, and an owner can start one from the Byte Bunny Portal, from anywhere.
Prevents break-ins
A QR payment puts no cash into the machine, so there is less inside for anyone to break in for.
Reduces overhead costs
A QR payment is money nobody has to collect from a coin box, count or carry to the bank.
Provides alternative payment methods to customers
A customer without coins can pay from the e-wallet or banking app on their phone.

Questions owners ask about the backend
Anything else about the backend, put to us on WhatsApp.
Do my customers need a Byte Bunny app?
No. Byte Bunny Technology lists “Hassle free - no apps to download”: customers pay with the e-wallet or banking app already on their phone.
Do I need new machines?
Byte Bunny Technology installs its IoT device into an owner's existing machines; it is not a new machine. Send us the make and model of each of yours, and we will confirm whether it can be fitted.
Can a machine be started remotely?
Yes. After a customer pays by QR, our servers start the machine, and an owner can also start a machine from the Byte Bunny Portal, from anywhere.
Will my machines still take coins or tokens?
Yes. The coin slot keeps working beside the QR, and a customer can split one payment: for a RM7 wash, 3 tokens in the slot and RM4 by QR.
What if a customer pays and the machine does not start?
If the shop's wifi is down, our system sees the machine as offline and our backend refunds the customer's bank account automatically. If the washer or dryer itself is at fault, the owner refunds the customer.
Can I offer the Byte Bunny backend to other machine owners?
Yes, as a partner or reseller. We customize the backend and frontend systems for our partners, and we offer product training for a variety of self-service machines. Start at Be A Partner.
