Questions about cashless QR payment for self-service machines
The short answer
Byte Bunny Technology, based in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, provides a QR payment system for self-service laundries. We install an IoT device into existing coin or token washers and dryers so they accept DuitNow QR. Customers open their e-wallet or banking app, scan the QR on the machine and pay the machine's price, and the machine then starts. Laundromats are our main focus, and there is no app for customers to download.

Fitting QR payment to the machines you already run, and what you get from it.
01Can my existing coin or token washers and dryers take QR payment?
Byte Bunny Technology installs an IoT device into the washers and dryers you already have, so each machine can accept DuitNow QR payment. It is built for laundromat owners whose machines previously took tokens or cash. When a customer scans the QR on a machine and pays, our servers activate that machine and the cycle starts. Send us your makes and models on WhatsApp to ask whether yours can be fitted.
Cashless QR payment for coin and token laundromats02Will my machines still take coins or tokens after fitting?
Yes. The coin slot keeps working beside the QR, so customers can still pay with coins or tokens. They can even split one payment: for a RM7 wash, a customer can put 3 tokens in the slot and pay RM4 by QR.
03What does Byte Bunny sell?
Byte Bunny Technology provides software as a service to laundromat owners. What we sell is the concept of a cashless laundromat: your existing machines fitted to take DuitNow QR, and customers paying from their phones instead of with coins or tokens. Behind it sits our backend system, which is custom-built for different businesses according to their needs. We are a tech company that specializes in e-payment automation for self-service businesses.
04What do Byte Bunny merchants pay per DuitNow QR transaction?
Byte Bunny merchants on our existing Fiuu payment gateway arrangement pay an agreed DuitNow QR transaction rate of 0.85%. It already includes the applicable DuitNow QR processing charges, so no separate DuitNow QR processing fee is added on top: on an RM10.00 payment the fee is RM0.085, before rounding or any other separately agreed charges.
DuitNow QR transaction fees explained05What do I get as the owner?
For a self-service business owner, Byte Bunny's system is built to do five things: it reduces overhead costs, prevents break-ins, lets a machine be remotely activated, monitors cash sales and e-wallet sales, and provides alternative payment methods to customers. In a laundromat that means fewer coins to collect and count, less cash in the machines, machines started by our servers after a QR payment, both kinds of sale to monitor, and a way to pay for customers who carry no coins. These are what the system is built to do; results depend on your shop.
The Byte Bunny backend for self-service machine owners06Can I see my cash and e-wallet sales?
Yes. Byte Bunny's system monitors cash sales and e-wallet sales for owners. As the owner, you get the Byte Bunny Portal, where you watch your sales and a detailed history of every transaction.
07What does “machine can be remotely activated” mean?
At a machine fitted by Byte Bunny Technology, it means Byte Bunny's servers start the machine once a customer has paid by DuitNow QR; no coin has to drop. As the owner, you can also start a machine yourself from the Byte Bunny Portal, from anywhere.
08Coins, tokens or QR: what is the difference?
With coins, customers need the right coins and the money collects in the machine's coin box. With tokens, customers first buy tokens, usually with cash, and drop them into the machine. With DuitNow QR, customers pay the machine's price from their e-wallet or banking app (the steps are under How do I pay a washer or dryer by QR?), and that payment puts no cash into the machine.
Coins, tokens or QR payment, side by side09What should I ask before fitting?
Ask us about your own machines before you decide: which makes and models can be fitted, how long fitting takes, what it costs, how and when QR payments reach you, whether we fit in your area, and what each machine needs, such as power or internet. Send your machine list and your location on WhatsApp and ask. The eight steps from application to support after fitting are on QR payment for laundromats.
The questions to ask, one by one10Does Byte Bunny only work with laundromats?
No, but laundromats are our main focus. Byte Bunny Technology provides e-payment automation for all the self-service industries: self-service laundry, vending machines, claw or crane machines, vending massage chairs, kiddie rider machines, coin or token exchange machines, coffee machines and water dispenser machines.

Paying a washer or a dryer with the phone in your pocket.

11How do I pay a washer or dryer by QR?
Three steps, the same ones our own how-to films show:
- 01
Open your e-wallet app, or your banking app.
- 02
Open the app's scanner and scan the DuitNow QR sticker on the washer or dryer.
- 03
Pay the machine's price; the machine then starts.
Our films show a washer and a dryer, with Malay captions, on our YouTube channel @ByteBunnyTech, and an Electrolux dryer, with English captions, on our Facebook page.
How QR payment works at a self-service machine12Do I need to download an app?
No. You pay a machine fitted by Byte Bunny with the e-wallet app or banking app already on your phone; there is no Byte Bunny app to install. PayNet describes DuitNow QR as working through participating banks and e-wallets, so the app you already use to pay by QR is the one to open at the laundromat.
13Which apps can I use?
Our films show both kinds: the washer and dryer videos start by opening an e-wallet app, and the Electrolux dryer video starts with “Open our Bank apps”. Many e-wallet payment methods are available, so you are not tied to one app. Our brochure lists 45 banks and e-wallets that work, “and many more”, among them Maybank, CIMB Bank, Public Bank, RHB Bank, Hong Leong Bank, Touch 'n Go eWallet, GrabPay, Boost and ShopeePay; the full list is on How it works. In general, PayNet describes DuitNow QR as working through participating banks and e-wallets across Malaysia, with the customer paying from their preferred mobile banking or e-wallet app (PayNet, DuitNow QR). If your app can scan and pay a DuitNow QR, open it at the machine.
14Do I need to bring cash?
No. At a machine fitted by Byte Bunny you pay from your phone, so there are no coins to carry, no change to look for and no tokens to buy before your wash. Your phone, with an e-wallet or banking app on it, is all you need to start a wash or a dry.
15I paid by QR but the machine did not start. Do I get my money back?
If the laundromat's wifi is down, Byte Bunny's system sees the machine as offline and refunds your payment to your bank account automatically. If the washer or dryer itself is at fault, the laundromat owner refunds you.
